Privacy at The Black Pint
Effective September 14, 2026.
The Black Pint is a community for documenting and sharing pints. Contact support@theblackpint.com about privacy, support, or abusive content.
Information we use
We store your account name, handle, email, password hash, profile details, posts, photos, comments, reactions, friendships, blocks and reports. We process IP addresses and limited request records to prevent abuse. Your password is not stored in plain text. We also use Apple App Attest verification records to help protect the service, including public cryptographic keys associated with an app installation and short-lived request hashes. If you enable push notifications, we store an app device token, notification preferences and limited delivery records to send updates about your posts, comments and friend activity through Apple.
Public posts, profiles and selected venue information can be seen by other people. Public share links work outside the app. Cheeky/private posts are restricted to their owner. Someone who can view public content may save or share a copy.
Camera, photo selection and location access are optional and use iOS permission controls. Location helps show nearby venues; a location you attach to a public post is public. With your permission, the app can also contribute one approximate area to help us improve pub-map coverage. Coordinates are rounded on your phone to a 0.05-degree grid before sending. We retain deduplicated area centres as geographic research records, without your account or device identifier in that table, until we remove them. This contribution is optional and does not track your movements. We do not collect background location. Original photos may also remain in the app's protected local storage.
Feedback and support
If you send an idea or problem report, we store your message, account identity, app version, submission time and review status privately for our team. Feedback is not published to the community. Operational email notices contain a feedback reference and category, rather than your message. Stored feedback is removed when you delete your account. Please do not include passwords or payment details in feedback.
Services and purposes
We use AWS to host data and send account emails, and Apple services for app distribution and maps. Data may be processed in the United States. We use it to operate the community, maintain accounts, moderate content and protect the service. We do not sell personal data or use it for advertising tracking.
Your choices and deletion
You can edit your profile, hide or delete posts, block users and report content in the app. Delete your account from Profile to revoke access and remove its public content immediately. A background cleanup removes stored media and remaining personal content, normally within seven days. Limited security/moderation audit records may be retained to protect the service. Database backups expire within 35 days. Copies saved independently by others are outside our control.
Contact us to request access, correction or deletion, or if an in-app request fails. Operational request logs are retained for up to 30 days; short-lived abuse counters are cleaned automatically. Data required by a specific legal obligation may be retained for that obligation.
Age information
On supported devices we request an age range from Apple to determine adult eligibility. We do not collect your birthdate, identity documents, raw age range, or Apple Account identifier. We keep an account access result, whether it came from an Apple response or your confirmation, the policy version and check time, and at most one previous eligibility transition. These records help enforce age restrictions and correct mistakes; they are removed when you delete your account. The app also remembers your legal-drinking-age confirmation and any unresolved underage result on your device. Age information is used for eligibility and safety, not advertising.
Eligibility
This service is for people who are at least 18 and of legal drinking age where they are located. It is not intended for children. You may withdraw optional device permissions in iOS Settings.
This website
This marketing website does not use analytics, advertising trackers or a signup form. Our AWS hosting processes connection information such as IP addresses to deliver the site and protect the service. TestFlight links take you to Apple’s service. Emailing support uses your chosen email provider.
